Cleansing Before Bed
So, with the busyness of life, it can be easy to slack on taking care of our skin. We’ve all done it. We’re tired and we just can’t bring ourselves to wash before bed. But did you know that we were created with an internal master clock that triggers our skin to function differently at night? Our pre-programmed circadian rhythms influence our sleep, hormones, digestion, and immune function. Nighttime is when our skin cells are dividing at a higher rate and our body is working to repair DNA damage while our skin is decreasing its barrier function which makes it more permeable. It’s the perfect time to nourish and hydrate skin. So, while washing your face in the shower in the morning is better than not cleansing at all, your skin will get a much greater benefit and your active ingredients will go further if you take the time to cleanse and treat in the evening instead.
