Types of Peels

Not all peels will actually cause visible peeling for days. There’s a peel for almost everyone.

Lunchtime Peel -This kind of light peel can be done on all skin types and has no prep, no downtime, and shouldn’t cause any visible peeling to the skin after treatment. It will be a little spicy as it sits on the skin for up 30 minutes. Slowly brightening sun damage over time, this peel can be done monthly. Sun protection and SPF is important, but you won’t have to worry about changing any activities.

True Peel-This type of medium depth peel will help target pigmentation from sun damage or acne and will also lessen fine lines by creating a controlled peel that will last for 5-10 days (once peeling begins). As each layer is applied, you’ll feel spice and heat that will last up to 30 minutes. After the appointment, you’ll need to keep your skin dry for at least 12 hours. Skin will appear to be sunburned and 2-3 days later will start to shed. Skin may need to be prepped prior to the peel in order to avoid further pigmentation during healing. Expect to alter your activities to avoid sun, heat, and face make up such as foundation while the skin heals over the next 2 weeks. This type of peel should only be done when temperatures are below 100 degrees and no more than every 2-3 months. As pigmentation lifts it will often get darker and require a series of peels. It didn’t take 1 month to create pigment and it won’t be gone with one treatment.

Peel Alternative-The SWICH treatment takes advantage of the skin’s natural repair mechanism without causing damage to the surface of the skin. It boosts the collagen and elastin of aging skin by increasing energy production and cell turnover improving skin’s texture and elasticity. The treatment serum will stay on the skin 20-30 minutes and could be uncomfortable for 5 or so minutes. The skin should remain dry until the morning after treatment. The sun should be avoided, and specific products must be used for the following 48 hours. Clients must be over age 40 and not have any allergy to citrus. This treatment builds over time and best results will be achieved after 3-5 treatments.
